Dit park, 361 hektares oppervlakte, heeft het belangerijkste rietbos van de piemontese kant van het lago Maggiore en werd gesticht in 1990.
The great naturalistic value of the area is due to the almost relic character of the habitat, and to the presence of a rich migratory and permanent avifauna. Among the aquatic flora it is possible to find the endemic variety of water chestnut, the trapa natans, variety verbanensis. Characterized by the presence of about 30 hectares of swamps and thin canes, the reserve also includes along its boundaries narrow strips of riparian willow vegetation enriched by a considerable floristic variety. One of the most interesting aspects of the area is that it is used as a stop area by a number of ornithological species during their migration.
