PALAZZO PERABO'
(LAVENO)

Palazzo Perabò originated in the 16th century, when the Cerro's family of Guilizzoni became Lord of the County. It is a late Renaissance construction, and from 1968 municipal property. Today it is the seat of the Ceramics Museum. Of undoubtably interesting the Cloister of two orders, which hosts, among other exhibitions, the "Biennale Arte e Ceramica". Every summer a musical season is held, offering a great variety of classical music.
The visitor finds in the Museum the "Terrraglia", earthenware, a variety of ceramic material which is fired at a low temperature. Besides the classical beauties of ornaments or rare vases and decorated dinner services, the museum also holds contemporary pieces of great originality. The visit is articulated in 11 rooms. The most important part of collection comes from the Società Italiana Ceramiche (Italian Ceramics Society), once in Laveno and then combined with the known Richard Ginori. The activity in Laveno began in 1895.
