LAGHI DI VARESE, DI COMABBIO E DI MONATE
To the east of Lago Maggiore, near Varese,
three little lakes occupy a fragment of Lombardy with delicate
wooded elevations and green relaxing panoramas. There are the Varese's,
Comabbio's and Monate's Lakes.
The greatest is the Lago di Varese, with its interesting Isolino
Virginia.
Very important is the Pre-historical Museum
, with finds of the area between 1000 B.C. and the Roman period.
By the island also a
traditional restaurant. You can practice in the free time the sail,
the fishing and rowing. The little Lago di Monate is integrating
part of the catchment-basin of Verbano (Maggiore Lake). On the
north-east shore, is situated the locality of Cadrezzate, an
agricultural village, with an important wooden altar of the 16th
century in the parochial church (see also Travedona-Monate). Going
on to the south, find you the Lago di Comabbio, once united with
the Varese's lake. In the village of Comabbio you can visit the
parochial church of St. Giacomo.
