The villa
was built on the southern edge of the village of Premeno up in the hills overlooking Lake Maggiore.
It boasts splendid views over the lake and the town of Verbania. The Bernocchi family, an exponent
of the new class of industrial tycoons, had the villa built by an architect who studied under Camillo Boito
at the beginning of this century. It is three stories high: the ground floor is
faced with ashlar-work
while the upper floors are of brick, following the architectonic and construction tenants of the Lombard school.
The villa's imposing dimensions are off-set by its 60,000 m2 park full of chestnut, magnolia and
beech trees, open to the public. Today the villa is owned by the local municipality and is used for cultural events.
