After the Borromean Gulf,
between the lake and the steep hill, there is Belgirate,
another famous holiday resort.  It has got a characteristic
historic centre and houses have little arcades and pretty
loggias. These houses are famous to have given hospitality
to important men. The statesman Benedetto Cairoli and his
brothers went to rest at the neo-classic Villa Bono Cairoli.
While at Villa Carlotta- nowadays hotel- stopped Guido Gozzano,
Antonio Rosmini and Alessandro Manzoni. The self Hotel comprises also
Villa Treves  ,
and adjacent you can see Villa Fontana . It is worth
visiting the gothic church of Santa Maria and its romanesque
bell tower; where you can walk relaxing yourself.
