Leggiuno
is one of the most preferred destinations of Lago Maggiore,
thanks to the spectacular monastery of "Santa Caterina del Sasso"  , in the municipal territory.
You can reach the sanctuary by road or by ferry-boat, thanks to the presence of dock. 
The monastery is situated on a rock rising straight from the waters of Verbano: the panoramic view is immense.
It is a unit of Dominican buildings, historically it started in the XIII century,
with the raising of a votive church and then, during the centuries,
cult objects were added.
The village centre is situade instead in the interior, not washed from the lake.
