It is
one of the nine villages that are part of the "Riviera del Gambarogno", a part of the Swiss lake shore,
from the Lombard frontier with Italy to the foot of the Monte Ceneri.
Since XVI century, Magadino was an active port and
the centre of traffics to the inland of Switzerland. Since
1826 it was the first ferry- boat terminus and with San Gottardo
road open to vehicles it became stagecoaches terminus. Too its
economic fortune passed on the architecture of hotels and buildings,
influenced by the "Liberty Style". It is worth visiting: house Ghisler, the
parish church San Carlo and "Le Bolle di Magadino " of ecological interest.
It is a protected area of an exceptional interest. It offers rich flora and fauna,
in an unforgettable picture, far from the human interference. Among the many
events in Magadino, there is the famous International Festival of Organ Music in July.
