PINO
Municipio Tel. 0332.566.233
Last
municipality of the Lombard shore, towards Switzerland.
It is situated on a promontory, dominating the main part of Lago
Maggiore. The antique built up area had been built to the sides
of the winding main road, where characteristics examples of
spontaneous architecture, typical of these valleys,
predominate. It is worth visiting the medieval tower,
seat of the town hall, and the church San Quirico, with
a magnificent view over the lake. Far off, coming from
Maccagno, there is a construction characterizing the village profile,
raising on a piece of rock, which was already known
as "Sasso di Pino" in XII century. In the coast village of Zenna,
there is a beach, and the little port and also the seat of customs.
A curiosity: the complete name of Pino is the longest municipal
name of Italy ("Pino on the shore of Lago Maggiore").
