Constructed first in the 9th century and
remodeled between the 11th and 12th, the Church of San Donato still conserves the small northern apse of the original structure.
Internally, there are some noteworthy 15th and 16th century frescoes, particularly that of the 15th century "Madonna del latte" (Our Lady of the Milk). To the right of the entrance is the chapel of Santa Caterina containing frescoes recording her life. The Romanesque style is well testified through the crypt formed by columns that sustain the arches of the cross shaped vault. Also noteworthy is the fact that the floors were originally half a meter lower.
